In order to ensure smooth operations of our service offerings and in order to protect our customers and their businesses, we may collect some information following strict data protection guidelines. This Privacy Policy will explain how edTimber Global and its affliates (if nominated) process your information.

edTimber collects the majority of the data via its online trading platform https://ed-timber.com.

We collect your data when:

  • 3.1. You browse our website https://ed-timber.com, more information about Cookies and what we use them for can be found in Article 8 of this Privacy Policy;
  • 3.2. You provide personal and company information required to register with our platform;
  • 3.3. You place an order with the platform;
  • 3.4. You sign a digital contract with the platform;
  • 3.5. We process documentation required for the export of goods sold via our platform;
  • 3.6. We process any other related documentation required for the successful completion of an order via the platform; 
  • 3.7. When running promotions at events and conferences, with your prior consent;
  • 3.8. When demonstrating our product and/or using our marketing tool, with your prior consent.

4. How will we use your data

edTimber will use the majority of the data in order to process your orders. Some of this data will be passed to third-parties which form part of our ordering process, ie. digital contracts, customer support process.

We will use your data in order to:

  • 4.1. Complete a customer vetting process when onboarding new customers, this is done to ensure safety of our marketplace and its customers. If deemed necessary, we may perform periodical vetting of our existing customers;
  • 4.2. Process your orders made via the platform;
  • 4.3. Complete the signing of digital contracts;
  • 4.4. Send you personalised content via multiple marketing communication channels;
  • 4.5. Optimise your experience of our digital trading platform;
  • 4.6. Optimise the performance of our digital platform and its services.

5. How do we store your data?

Your data is stored securely on our cloud infrastructure using the latest technology.

In an event of a failed registration, we will store your information for 12 months, this is to ensure the safety and security of our services and to protect our customers and our business from potential fraudulent registration attempts.

Upon successful registration with us, we will store your company information for at least 72 months. Occasionally, we may require to store this information for a longer period.

For all successfully completed orders, we will store the order information for at least 72 months. Occasionally, we may require to store this information for a longer period, per example, in an event where a specific order would pose a risk to the continuity of our business and continuing to store this information would be in the best interest of the business.

6. Marketing

edTimber's marketing strategy focuses on delivering content via communication channels such as email, directly via its digital platform and/or using it's marketing tool deployed by regional sales representatives.

Upon successful account registration, you agree to receive marketing content using the communication channels listed above. You can opt out from receiving our marketing content at any time. Instructions on how to opt out from receiving marketing content from edTimber are provided with all of our communications.

At edTimber we want to make sure you are fully aware of your data protection rights.

  • 7.1. The right to access – you have the right to request edTimber for copies of your data, with an appropriate justification and approval by edTimber.

  • 7.4. The right to restrict processing – you have the right to request that edTimber restrict processing of your personal data, with a reasonable justification and approval by edTimber.
  • 7.5. The right to object processing – you have the right to object edTimber processing of your personal data, with a reasonable justification and approval by edTimber.
  • 7.6. The right to data portability – you have the right to request that edTimber transfer the data we have collected to another organisation, or directly to you, with a reasonable justification and approval by edTimber.

We use cookies in order to monitor user behaviour on our website  When you visit our website we may collect information about yourself such as, device type you are accessing from, browser type and version you are using, your location, your behaviour when using our web site. This information is used to help edTimber improve user experiences and help us optimise our global Content Delivery Network service in each of the global regions we serve.

You can always choose to opt-out from using Cookies on our website, however, this will have a negative effect on your overall user experience of the platform.

We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy, at any time. In the event of any planned updates to this Policy, Platform Users will be notified (via electronical means, email or platform notifications), at least 1 calendar month in advance. In case of disagreement with the proposed changes, customers may opt to close their accounts. All Platform users who continue to use the Platform, after the Policy updates are published, are agreeing to the proposed Policy changes.

Our products and services are not intended for those under the age of 18, and we will not knowingly collect Personal Information from such individuals under the age of 18.
